FOR A SUSTAINABLE
AND DESIRABLE
TRANSITION

About

A sustainable and desirable transition

Reducing global carbon emissions from 50 billion tonnes to zero by 2050 is the challenge facing the business world, and in particular the manufacturing industry, which is said to be responsible for around 30% of greenhouse gases.

Aiming for the ultimate goal of Net Zero thus raises very specific issues for each sector of activity. But the commitment of the manufacturing industry, with its production lines involving suppliers and subcontractors all over the world, and even its customers, is the key to total success for all.

(...) We will always strive for a fair and just transition! That means guaranteeing a fair outcome for future generations - the chance to live on a healthy planet. And guaranteeing everyone a fair transition, with decent jobs and a solemn promise to leave no one behind.

Ursula von der Leyen,
State of the Union Speech, 2023.

Challenges and opportunities

The whole process implies transcending traditional business models and promoting a collaborative approach, the only way to accelerate the pace and achieve concrete results. In this new environment, fed by the harnessing of data and the emergence of new "clean" technologies, sectors are being created, new systems are coming into being, alliances between competitors are being forged, and a logic of territories is starting to emerge. Movin'On is committed to supporting this transition towards equally sustainable and desirable mobility.

While a good number of companies are already on board and on the move, most of them often face financial, technological and organizational obstacles. And when it comes to zero emissions, no company can manage the transformation of its value chains alone. Systemic collaboration is key at both supply chain and industry levels, as well as between the public and private sectors. At the same time, reinventing a thought process and system of supporting the adoption of new practices by consumers, so that they too have the means to embrace this imperative transition, will not be possible without a large shot of desirability and accessibility. Empowering European citizens is a key success factor in the transition to a sustainable Europe.

IN PRACTICE

Making the ecological transition a growth driver for the Old Continent implies a paradigm shift for all stakeholders, all sectors of the economy, and especially for the mobility sector. This is also true for the 450 million citizens affected by the implications of the climate package. Movin'On and its partners are committed to exploring all the mechanisms and levers available to encourage changes in behavior, and to co-constructing mobility solutions that are as sustainable as they are desirable.
