Car-free city centres: fantasy or reality?

What if rethinking the place of cars were the challenge of the 21st century for cities?

European cities are already competing with each other to drive the most polluting vehicles out of their city centres. An overview of the diversity of measures in place shows us the importance of increasingly controlled and more heavily taxed urban mobility.

What choices for what results? Is restriction the only way to limit the modal share of private cars? And finally, does this race to improve air quality not conceal a number of negative externalities?

Our guests lift the veil on this insatiable quest for cities:

• Thibauld Phillips, Mayor of Illkirch-Graffenstaden in the Bas-Rhin.

• Arabel Chambre-Foa , Project Director at the City Factory, a think-tank dedicated to urban foresight founded by the Vinci group.

Jean Louis Carrasco, Director of Urban Logistics at La Poste Courrier et Colis.
