Software-Driven Sustainable Mobility

How can software both drive and strengthen sustainable mobility, making it desirable, a ordable, safe and accessible?

With the European Union seeking to reduce vehicle emissions by 55% by the end of the decade, several member states are offering tax and financial incentives to encourage the purchase of low emission cars, making mobility more accessible to all. France, for example, recently introduced a "social leasing" mechanism to facilitate access to electric cars, aimed particularly at low income households.

Movin'On recognizes the desirability of private cars for urbanites who want total freedom of mobility. Offering them an alternative, beyond incentives for electric cars, consisting of full mobility as a service experience would be a way of encouraging a shift in usage.

Because encouraging the purchase and ownership of electric vehicles won't be enough to meet the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, Movin'On and its partners are setting out to explore the potential of software-led evolution to meet the needs of more inclusive mobility.

The rise of companies such as Tesla is testimony to the fact that today, the heart of a vehicle can be the actual software rather than an assembly of specialized hardware. OEMs, suppliers and mobility operators are investing in the field of mobility-as-a-service, mobility systems and shared mobility services, so software is now omnipresent in our mobility environment.

What impact are we aiming for?

Decarbonation of mobility thanks to software and data enabling a virtuous change of mobility usage: more shared trips, more intermodal trips, less solo driving.

What are we creating?

A white paper demonstrating the impact and listing the regulatory, technological and transformation levers of software-driven sustainable mobility:

• The need for a European Green Mobility Passport, as a loyalty program for citizens and a major enabler to software-driven sustainable mobility solutions.

• A case for implementing natively in new cars software-based solutions for decarbonized trips.

• 2035 use cases to showcase the power of Software Driven Mobility.

What is our roadmap?

Based on the "100-500km prospective scenarios" Community of Interest, identification of major levers created by software. Business ideation.
