Inclusive mobility – Hardware to software

With the European Union seeking to reduce vehicle emissions by 55% by the end of the decade, several member states are offering tax and financial incentives to encourage the purchase of low emission cars, making mobility more accessible to all. France, for example, recently introduced a “social leasing” mechanism to facilitate access to electric cars, aimed particularly at low income households.

Movin’On recognizes the desirability of private cars for urbanites who want total freedom of mobility. Offering them an alternative, beyond incentives for electric cars, consisting of full mobility as a service experience would be a way of encouraging a shift in usage.

Challenges and Opportunites

Because encouraging the purchase and ownership of electric vehicles won’t be enough to meet the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, Movin’On and its partners are setting out to explore the potential of software-led evolution to meet the needs of more inclusive mobility.

The rise of companies such as Tesla is testimony to the fact that today, the heart of a vehicle can be the actual software rather than an assembly of specialized hardware. OEMs, suppliers and mobility operators are investing in the field of mobility-as-a-service, mobility systems and shared mobility services, so software is now omnipresent in our mobility environment.

In practice

Movin’On proposes to verify the potential of new services as an alternative to car ownership, aggregating the various skill components of the ecosystem to make mobility more accessible through software. As a starter, our experts and contributors will be able to draw on the state of the art of existing solutions (leasing, fleets, monitoring) to gain greater precision in managing access to mobility and degradation through wear and tear.

The aim of our collaborative work? To deliver a business model that is profitable to all stakeholders, by harnessing the power of data to implement smart vehicles, smart operations and smart services more rapidly, all working for more accessible mobility.

Bring your Expertise

The players already committed to this project invite you to join them in clarifying the key challenges involved in delivering on the Green Deal’s ambitions, and in outlining our own contribution and to collectively answer the question: how do we change the paradigm and study a different way of addressing mobility for the populations that cannot afford it, through new services, based on software?

Take part and connect with our cross-sectoral expert

In 2024, Movin’On is renewing its commitment to the ambitious vision set out by the European Green Deal. To achieve the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, legislative measures include initiatives covering climate, the environment, energy, transportation, industry and sustainable finance – all of which are closely linked. The European Commission has furthermore stressed “the need for a comprehensive, cross-sectoral approach, encompassing all relevant sectors to achieve the ultimate climate objective”. Movin’On, as a business-led, multi-modal and cross-sectoral ecosystem, is perfectly in line with this approach.

We are therefore proud to announce our collective commitment throughout the year to achieving one goal: to help make the decarbonization of land transportation in Europe a success, in line with the objectives of the “Fit for 55” package by the year 2030 and in tune with the signing of the call for “Fossil-Free Transportation” initiated by our long-standing institutional partner SLOCAT.

Pease discover the themes we have together defined to meet this challenge, and for you, too, to collectively be a real part of it: Energy – Intermodality – Circular economy – Financing the transition – Inclusive mobility – Supporting the transition. – Sovereignty

These 7 themes are the starting point for our 2024 Communities of Interest, working groups that bring together various ecosystem stakeholders. They study the burning question of sustainable mobility, develop a common vision and jointly experiment with new solutions.
