Movin’On Virtual Community Sessions successfully kicked off by leading sustainable energy and finance figures
On October 8, BNP Paribas, Solar Impulse, Michelin and Engie mobilised networks to develop solutions that scale up energy efficiency and reinvest gains in energy transition.
The objective of the Community of Interest is ultimately to deliver a library of tested and approved solutions.
For this first virtual working session, participants addressed concrete initiatives to be launched to foster energy efficiency in four specific areas :
- Real estate and buildings
- Digital sobriety
- Sustainable finance
The plenary session, open to the public, opened with a fireside chat between Constance Chalchat, Head of Company Engagement at BNP Paribas CIB and Bertrand Piccard, Founder and Chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation about how to scale up solutions. Michelin and Engie also presented a shared success with the first Michelin zero emission factory; Gravanches, Clermont Ferrand in France.
The session brought together participants from major corporates, start-ups, international organizations and public authorities
“Energy efficiency has been and will be the largest contributor to reduce greenhouse gas emissions accounting for about 40% of reductions by 2050. For the environment, the best energy is the energy we save.”
Carlo Carraro, Vice-Chair of the United Nations International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Professor of Environmental Economics at the University of Venice
