Beautiful Cars to Thrill Fans at Motor Bella, World’s Newest Auto Show

The North American International Auto Show, canceled last year to curb the coronavirus, this year has been supplanted by Motor Bella - a sparkling new outdoor auto show also organized by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association.

Traditionally held in downtown Detroit in January as the first auto show after the holiday season, NAIAS organizers had long wished to escape the frigid Detroit winters and hold their show in a sunnier season. A shift in the timing of other auto shows made that possible in 2021.

The September 21- 26 Motor Bella event promises exciting experiences for everyone, from families looking for fun and new vehicles to mobility innovators.

Originally, Motor Bella was to be an outdoor area of Italian and British performance and luxury vehicles held to enhance NAIAS, but it has been expanded into a full auto show on its own, complete with product reveals, 80+ speakers, and mobility-themed content ranging from “EVolution at the Speed of Thought," to “Big Data’s Effect on the In-Vehicle Experience."

More than 400 vehicles will be on display, there will be ride-and-drive opportunities and a showcase of next-generation mobility.

Attendees can cruise in an autonomous electric car on a 1.5 mile-long track, take an exhilarating ride in a utility vehicle up rocky terrain, or feel the G’s of a sports car taking speeding from 0 to 60 in three seconds.

Motor Bella will debut at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, a 45 minute drive north of Detroit. M1 Concourse is an 87-acre playground for auto enthusiasts that includes the world’s largest community of private garages and a state-of-the-art 1.5-mile performance track with its own private Motorsports Club.

Motor Bella sponsors include Delta Air Lines, Michelin and Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) as Premier Sponsors with PNC Bank serving as Presenting Sponsor. Official Sponsors are AISIN Corporation, Bosch, International Outdoor and Magna International.  KeyBank is the title sponsor of the KeyBank Track.

“Motor Bella celebrates the rich automotive history of Michigan, while also showcasing the future of this exciting industry," said David Mannarino, president of KeyBank’s Michigan market. “We are proud to support this event and the communities that have worked to support the auto industry."

In addition to showcasing its tires, Michelin North America will again fill its traditional auto show role as host to the media. At least 600 members of the media from 25 states and 12 countries attending Motor Bella will be hosted by Michelin in the newly opened M1 Concourse Event Center.

With this commitment, Michelin continues its long-time partnership with the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA), having presented the Michelin Media Center at the North American International Auto Show for three decades.

MICHELIN WAS THE FIRST MAJOR PARTNER OF THE NAIAS WHEN IT BEGAN IN 1989 AND WE ARE PROUD TO PARTNER WITH THEM FOR THE FIRST-EVER MOTOR BELLA.

In addition to scheduled press conferences, Motor Bella will feature activations and launches from Ford, Stellantis, General Motors and Toyota, with an expected 35 brands on view throughout the show.

New Cars and Trucks in the Spotlight

The 2022 Toyota Tundra pickup truck will be featured in a press briefing on opening day, Tuesday, September 21. Joe Moses, general manager, Toyota Marketing, Vehicle Marketing and Communications, Toyota Motor North America will debut the new Tundra.

“We’re excited to show the all-new 2022 Tundra in person for the first time at Motor Bella," Moses said. “This truck was redesigned from the ground up to deliver exceptional performance, amazing capability, next-level multimedia and retain the quality, reliability and durability for which Toyota trucks are known."

Ahead of the debut, there are speculations that the 2022 Tundra will have a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine producing at least 400 horsepower, and there could be a hybrid drivetrain powered by the V-6 and an electric motor to compete with the Ford F-150 PowerBoost hybrid.

After the press briefing, Toyota will conduct live vehicle demonstrations on the M1 racetrack. These classic, modified and unique vehicles include the Dragquoia, Land Speed Cruiser, GR Supra Heritage Edition, GR Supra 3000GT Concept and a NASCAR Xfinity Series Supra race car.

General Motors will showcase current and future electrified product innovations, especially the all-new Hummer EV.

GM’s booth will feature a GMC Hummer EV SUV, an Ultium battery platform chassis, and a GM Defense Infantry Squad Vehicle. Visitors will view a full lineup of Chevrolet performance and motorsport vehicles including the Corvette C8.R and NASCAR Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race cars, two 2022 IMSA GTLM Championship Edition Corvette Stingrays, and a full array of COPO Camaro’s including a fifth generation, a 2022 Big Block V-8, and the electrified eCOPO drag racing concept car.

“For decades, GM and Chevrolet have served as industry leaders in automotive innovation, continually pushing the limits of what new technology and precision engineering can bring to the racetrack, showroom, and the aftermarket," Jim Campbell, GM vice president of performance, motorsports and accessories said.

GM’s Motor Bella display is a testament to the dedication and resolve of our performance, motorsports and production teams," Campbell said.

Ford Motor Company will unveil the new Ford Expedition on the Motor Bella's opening day, and Ford will also present three ride activations featuring the F-150, the Bronco and the Mustang Mach-E, a new, all-electric sports utility vehicle.

Also on opening day, the 14th annual EyesOn Design Awards will be presented by the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, a division of the Henry Ford Health System Department of Ophthalmology.

Stellantis, formerly Fiat-Chrysler, will offer two separate off-road track activations featuring Jeep and Ram TRX.

In early August, Ford, General Motors and Stellantis jointly announced their shared aspiration to achieve sales of 40-50 percent of annual U.S. volumes of electric vehicles by 2030 in order to move the nation closer to a zero-emissions future consistent with the climate goals of the Paris Agreement.

"Our recent product, technology, and investment announcements highlight our collective commitment to be leaders in the U.S. transition to electric vehicles," the three automakers said. "With the UAW at our side in transforming the workforce and partnering with us on this journey, we believe we can strengthen continued American leadership in clean transportation technology through electric vehicle innovation and manufacturing."
