DID YOU KNOW?

Bertrand Piccard is the first pilot to fly around the world in a solar-powered airplane.

Bertrand Piccard is President of the Solar Impulse Foundation, and the visionary behind the first airplane to fly around the world without a drop of fuel. He most recently launched the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions, and with it, the goal of selecting a thousand solutions to protect the environment in a profitable way. His mission: present these forward-thinking initiatives to decision makers at the COP24 (2018) and encourage them to adopt more ambitious environmental target and energy policies.

A trained psychiatrist, Bertrand constantly sets out to challenge assumptions and convictions, and advocates for an innovative and pioneering spirit to improve the quality of life on Earth. Descended from a family of explorers, it is in his DNA to push past everyday limits and go beyond the boundaries of the possible, as he did with his two round-the-world flights – with Solar Impulse and before that, non-stop in a balloon.

Over the years, Bertrand Piccard has become an influential voice heard at institutions across the globe as a forward-thinking leader for progress and sustainability.

“ We need to embrace clean technologies and efficient solutions, because they are much more than ‘ecological’ , they are ‘logical’. ”
